Pune News : Over 30k vehicle owners fined in 1 month; Rs 2 crore 72 lakh fine collected

Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police has taken action on 32,775 traffic violators for various crimes & collected a total fine of Rs 2 crore 72 lakh in November.

As per information from the press release of Pimpri Chinchwad Police, industrial areas such as Chakan, Bhosari, Talegaon, Hinjawadi, Talawade, Chikhali are under the jurisdiction of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate. Pimpri Market is the largest market under the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate. Considering all the aspects, the citizens of the state as well as the country have settled in such areas for livelihood, so the development and growth of the city is happening rapidly.

With this, the number of vehicles & vehicle usage has increased tremendously, leading to an increase in vehicle-related crimes and violations of traffic rules. Hence, Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Branch, under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Police Sanjay Shinde, Additional Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Police Vasant Pardeshi, action has been taken on several traffic violators between 1/11/2023 & 30/11/2023.

Following is the data of the number of traffic violators in November 2023 against whom the traffic police has taken action & the violation:

· Speaking on mobile phone while driving – 939

· Signal jumping – 1728

· Triple seat commuting – 3559

· Driving without a helmet – 2880

· Driving without seatbelt on – 2220

· Putting black sheet on car windows – 1390

· Silencer-related crime – 884

· Traffic obstruction – 8967

· Vehicles entering the BRT bus route – 3229

· Wrong side driving – 607

· Heavy vehicles driving on restricted roads – 6372

Thus, a total of 32,775 vehicle owners have been prosecuted and a total fine of Rs 2,72,91,700 has been collected from then

Hence, the Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police is appealing to the citizens to follow the traffic rules to avoid punitive and judicial action.
