Pune News : Over 570 minors fined for underage driving in Pimpri Chinchwad

In the past week, the Pimpri Chinchwad police’s traffic branch conducted a special drive targeting underage drivers, resulting in the issuance of fines to a total of 571 minors for driving two-wheelers. 

These minors, all below the age of 16, were found riding vehicles in various parts of Pimpri Chinchwad. The fines, amounting to a collective total of Rs 41.40 lakh, are either collected or scheduled to be collected from their parents, who are held responsible for allowing their children to engage in underage driving. 

Among the divisions within Pimpri Chinchwad, Chakan, Pimpri, and Talawade reported the highest number of fines imposed on underage drivers, with 156, 58, and 57 individuals respectively. The fine for underage driving is set at Rs 5,000, with a provision for doubling the fine for repeat offenders. 

The authorities emphasized their commitment to continuing the crackdown on underage driving to ensure road safety. Additionally, cases were filed against 677 individuals for wrong-side driving during the same period.
