Pune News : Over 70 crores pending from commercial water users, PMC begins to take stern action

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation water supply department will taking strict action to recover arrears amounting to ₹70 crore, that have accumulated from commercial users of water in the city.

The warning comes after it was discovered that a large number of commercial establishments, including hotels, IT companies, government offices, semi-government agencies, and central government offices, had not paid their water bills.

The water supply for these establishments is recorded through the water supply meter department of the Pune Municipality, the Pune Cantonment Parishad, and the Khadki Cantonment Parishad. The Water Supply Department sends water supply bills to the concerned establishments every two months, and an independent executive engineer has been appointed to recover the arrears.

Anirudhha Pawaskar, Head of the Water Supply Department, stated, “Water arrears of ₹ 70 crores are pending from commercial users and as an action, we will be serving them notice. Within a week after getting the notice if the tax defaulters fails to pay the arrears, we will be disconnecting their water supply.”

Commercial establishments that owe arrears are advised to contact the Lashkar Water Supply Department, Swargate Water Supply Department and SNDT Water Supply Department of the Pune Municipality to make the necessary payments.
