Pimpri-Chinchwad: To protect the city’s environment and maintain public health, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has appointed two private agencies to monitor and control pollution and environmental damage. The newly appointed agencies, M/s Shubham Udyog Pvt. Ltd. and M/s Sainik Intelligence & Security Pvt. Ltd., will work round the clock to oversee activities that harm the environment.

The agencies will focus on preventing garbage dumping, construction debris, plastic waste, air pollution from RMC plots, and noise pollution from construction sites. The PCMC aims to maintain the city’s cleanliness and prevent defacement of public property through these initiatives.

Addressing Environmental Hazards The city has been facing issues such as unauthorized dumping along roadsides and riverbanks, disposal of biomedical waste in public areas, open garbage burning, and the use of banned plastics. Additionally, untreated industrial wastewater released into rivers and mosquito-breeding sites have raised concerns about public health.

To combat these problems, the environmental department has taken proactive steps by appointing these agencies. They will ensure strict enforcement of relevant regulations, including:

  • Biomedical Waste Management Rules, 2016
  • E-Waste Management Rules, 2022
  • Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2022
  • Environment Protection Act, 1986

The teams will operate 24/7 to monitor and act against offenders in line with these guidelines.

Public Advisory PCMC has issued a public advisory to residents, businesses, and industries, urging them to avoid any activities that harm the environment. Violators will face penalties as per municipal regulations.

“More than 6,000 sanitation workers clean Pimpri-Chinchwad daily. However, maintaining cleanliness requires active citizen participation. Everyone must contribute to preserving our city’s beauty.” said Shekhar Singh, Commissioner and Administrator, PCMC.

“Residents must dispose of household waste responsibly. Industrial units must ensure proper treatment of chemical wastewater before releasing it into rivers. A collective effort will help maintain the city’s health.” informed Sanjay Kulkarni, Chief Engineer, Environmental Department, PCMC
