Pune: In a big relief to the Punekars, Vikas Dhakane, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has ordered to remove potholes from 15 major roads in the city.  The decision was taken during a meeting organized on Thursday with all the concerned PMC officials.

As per information, the 15 major roads which are to be completely and effectively repaired are Nagar Road, Solapur Road, Magarpatta Road, Pashan Road, Baner Road, Sangamwadi Road, Airport Road, Karve Road, Paud Road, Satara Road, Sinhagad road, Bibwewadi road, North Main road, Ganeshkhind road & Bajirao road.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dhakane said, “Around 95% of Pune’s commuters use at least one of the 15 major roads for daily travelling. Unfortunately, as of now, these are laden with potholes and waterlogging. Hence, the PMC has decided to fast-track the work of removing potholes from these 15 major roads of Pune. Action for all other roads of Pune is also being taken seriously. The potholes deliberately left on the roads in the city will be repaired within 9th August. Otherwise, strict action will be taken against the concerned engineers.”

It is worthy to note that during the rainy season, the condition of the roads becomes dangerous due to potholes, water logging etc. Hence, taking note of this, Dhakane has ordered pothole removal on 15 major roads in the city. As per information, Dhakane has also warned that deputy engineers will also be held responsible for this.

The city has experienced heavy rain in the last two weeks of July. Due to this, the number of potholes has increased on the roads. Due to this, motorists and especially bike riders are suffering a lot.
