The meeting was organized on Thursday.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Anil Kumar Mishra, Founder of Team WACO said, “I want to thank all the Wagholikars who have been participating in all the protests and have been supporting day and night for such a social cause.  People supported us to raise voice against all the injustices happening with them in Wagholi under the leadership of Team WACO. After 4th Protest (Virat Jan Andolan 2.0 – which continued for 4 days), PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar met Team WACO and provided various commitments and development plans for road, water supply and drainage systems in Wagholi. PMC will provide the formal MoM (Minutes of the Meeting) to Team WACO by next week. Thanks to PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Dheeraj Ghate (BJP’s President, Pune), Muralidhar Mohol (Ex. Mayor, Pune), Ajay Khedekar (Ex. NagarSevak PMC), Shrinath Bhimale (Leader of the House, PMC) and many others present there. It was a fruitful meeting in terms of various development plans & future for Wagholi. After receiving the MoM next week, Team WACO will review it and will closely monitor the progress and development of those projects with continuous, time-to-time and aggressive follow-ups so that the projects can be completed on time with high quality. I reiterate, until all the basic facilities are made available & fully developed in Wagholi, Team WACO’s protest & effort will continue.”

As per information, projects worth Rs 2000 crores have been finalized for Wagholi. Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been finalized and will be executed from September 2023.

Team WACO, along with several Wagholi residents, held a fierce protest outside the PMC office from July 20 to July 24, 2023. Taking it into cognizance, here are some of the promises given by the PMC:

  • For drainage issue – PMC commissioner sanctioned Rs 1500 crore with help of World Bank for ‘Proper Drainage System’ to be developed across newly merged 23 villages including Wagholi.
  • For road issue – Rs 200 crore sanctioned for Wagholi to Lohegaon till expressway & DP road. For all other Roads in Wagholi, survey to be done soon including land acquisition by PMC. Work will start after that.
  • For water supply issue – Rs 230 crore sanctioned for Wagholi & Lohegaon. Tenders have already floated for that. PMC will provide the final DPR for the same to Team WACO next week. Work will start after the rainy season i.e. from September 2023.
  • For Wagholi Bus Stop – Wagholi Bus Stop to be developed urgently.
  • For tax issues – Team WACO demanded the tax removal related to drainage / STP, garbage management, water and road to be excluded immediately from property Tax being issued by PMC. For this, the PMC commissioner finally agreed to provide interim water supply from PMC tankers to all Wagholikars until the water supply project is finalized with this and will start providing water through PMC tankers soon.
