Pune: To ensure the safety of citizens from dangerous obstructions, large worn-out chambers etc, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is going to purchase seven different types of barricades to install on the roads of the city.

As per information, a budget of Rs 75 lakh has been finalized to purchase 100 barricades of 7 different types (700 in total).

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sahebrao Dandge, Superintendent Engineer, PMC Road Department said, “Numerous times, commuters & pedestrians find it dangerous to travel on the roads due to several dug up pits, chambers & obstructions. If these obstructions are kept just like that for a long time, people tend to keep stones & tree branches which are not at all recommended. Hence, the PMC has floated an open tender to purchase safety barricades.”

At present, the works of the same water supply scheme are going on in the city. Along with drainage lines, many roads have also been dug by the electricity department. Since these are urgent works, they are done throughout the year. Therefore, the civic body has decided to purchase permanent barricades.
