Pune: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), the public transport service provider in Pune, has announced an exciting initiative to further enhance its bus services for citizens.
PMPML has signed an agreement with Google to implement an Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) facility, which will enable citizens to track the live location of PMPML buses, get route details online, and more.
The announcement comes shortly after PMPML introduced an online payment system to make bus travel more convenient for passengers. This latest initiative with Google aims to provide a seamless and user-friendly experience for commuters, leveraging technology to improve public transport services in Pune.
Speaking about the development, Omprakash Bakoria, Managing Director and head of PMPML, stated, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Google to implement this ITMS facility in PMPML buses. This system will provide valuable information to our passengers, allowing them to track the live location of buses, obtain route details, and plan their travel more efficiently.”
The ITMS facility will be developed and implemented over a period of three months, according to Bakoria. Once implemented, PMPML passengers will be able to access real-time information about the location of buses, helping them plan their journeys more accurately and reduce waiting times at bus stops. Additionally, passengers will be able to obtain route details, including bus timings, schedules, and stops, through the online system.
PMPML has been actively taking initiatives to enhance its bus services and provide better facilities to citizens. The recent introduction of the online payment system and the upcoming implementation of the ITMS facility are part of PMPML’s efforts to modernize and improve its services, making it easier and more convenient for citizens to use public transport in Pune.
