Pune News : PMRDA to use modern drone technology for urban planning and surveillance

Pune: In an effort to use modern technology, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has introduced drone systems for various activities, including monitoring urban planning schemes, facility land transfer processes, and unauthorized construction sites, said officials.

The drone system, which has the latest technology, will be operational from August 2022. The PMRDA office has also purchased drones with updated technology equipped with DGPS and CORS for monitoring vast areas, including approximately 814 villages under PMRDA‘s jurisdiction.

On  Friday, the drones equipped with modern technology were inaugurated by Rahul Mahivale, Commissioner of PMRDA, and Dipak Singhla Additional Commissioner PMRDA, along with various dignitaries from the central and state government departments who attended the ceremony. 

The occasion was also used to provide guidance on the use of modern technology in various government departments. Dr. Sanjay Patil, Senior Scientist Maharashtra Remote Sensing Application Centre (MRSAC), S. Tripathi, Superintendent Surveyor Survey of India Pune, Suryakant More, District Registrar, Pune, and Rajendra Pawar, Deputy Director, Urban Planning Department, Pune, were present at the event.

The drones with updated technology equipped with DGPS and CORS will be used to monitor vast areas and unauthorized construction activities. This initiative will ensure that the development process is carried out in a systematic and efficient manner, said Ramdas Jagtaap, deputy collector and spokesperson PMRDA.
