Pune News: Police seizes Mephedrone and Opium worth Rs 3.39 Lakh; Hinjawadi police apprehends two people

PUNE: The Hinjawadi police have apprehended two individuals from Rajasthan on the charges of smuggling narcotics into the Hinjawadi area.

The accused were found with 61 grams of mephedrone (MD) and 1.705 kilograms of opium powder, with an estimated value of approximately Rs 3.39 lakh. 

As per the information provided, the arrested accused have been identified as Raviprakash Sukhram Bishnoi and Suresh Kumar Sairam Bishnoi, both residents of Phalodi in Rajasthan.

In addition, two other suspects, Sonu Jalora and Jaiprakash Bishnoi, have been implicated in the complaint lodged at the Hinjawadi police station, accused of providing the aforementioned narcotics to the arrested individuals.

Arrests were made as a tip-off received by the Crime Branch Of the anti-narcotics cell, who had been alerted to the illicit drug trade taking place in Bavdhan, located near the Mumbai-Bangalore highway.

While talking to Pune Pulse, Dr Vivek Mugalikar, Senior Police Inspector, Hinjawadi, added, “We have apprehended two individuals in connection with this case, and the search for the other two is ongoing. Mephedrone and opium have been seized from them. A thorough investigation will be conducted, and the remaining suspects will be apprehended soon.”

Vinay Kumar Choubey, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner has called upon the public to exercise increased vigilance in the wake of these arrests.
