Pune News : Posters of Pune’s intellectuals posted on metro pillars on Karve road, residents welcome move
Pune: At least five to six metro pillars on the Karve road, can be seen having posters of Pune’s intellectuals, artists including Vidya Bal, Sai Paranjape, Rohini Bhate, Hirabai Badodekar, and Dr Irawati Karve
Sushma Date from Deccan Gymkhana Parisar Samiti welcomed this move to paint metro pillars with photos of Pune’s women intellectuals . She said,”It is nice to see posters of Pune’s intellectuals, artists posted on metro pillars instead of politicians. And most important is that all these are women.”
Date further told that, we don’t know who did this, but we welcome this move as it is very gratifying that these all are women. Soon we will lodge a petition in this regard to do more such initiatives at various places across the city.
Mahesh Sadawarte, a daily commuter on Karve road said,”I have seen photographs of eminent personalities on metro pillars since the G20 meeting. I think it was part of beautification of city due to scheduled G20 meeting in the city.’’
Sadawarte further told, it is always good to see these eminent personalities instead of corrupt politicians on pillars.
When we tried to contact Maha Metro officials, they told that they don’t even have any idea about it and refused to further comment on it citing code of conduct protocol is going on related to Kasba legislative assembly constituency bypoll.
