Pune: In a shocking incident, a nationwide fraud has been allegedly committed by 65 representatives of Easy Pay Pvt Ltd resulting in a staggering 3.5 crore loss. A representative of the company has been arrested in the case from Durgapur, West Bengal. The accused is identified as Ankit Kumar Ashok Pandey.

As per information, Easy Pay Pvt Ltd works to provide online payment facilities to the public across India. The company has appointed registered agents all over the country. From August 11, 2022, 65 agents, out of all registered agents of the company, conspired to log into the official system of the company through the web portal app of the company using two to four or more different mobile sets other than the authorized ones. They logged in, misused the company’s technical facilities and defrauded the company of Rs 3,52,70,210.82/- in addition to the agent’s commission from the VPA account of the company to other 44 bank accounts. Therefore, based on the complaint, Cyber Police Station, Pune City registered a case under Sections 419, 420, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with Sections 43/66, 66D of the Information Technology (IT) Act.

While conducting the investigation, it was detected from the technical analysis that the location of the accused is in Delhi. Accordingly, when the police team from Cyber Police Station went to Delhi, the accused changed its location to Durgapur in West Bengal. From this, it was clear that the accused did not stay in one place for a long time. So, the police team reached West Bengal and arrested the accused from Durgapur, West Bengal. One mobile phone and two laptops have been seized from the accused.

The court has granted police remand to the accused till July 19. Police are further investigating the matter.
