Pune: In a shocking incident, a man, who pretended to be a customer, attacked the owner of a private medical store in Mundhwa with a sickle on July 15 at around 7 pm.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Santosh Luniya, owner of the medical store in Mundhwa said, “On July 15, the man, whose face was covered with a handkerchief, came to my medical store and asked for a medicine for cold. He was completely drunk. I gave him the medicine. Then he asked me to give him a chocolate as well. When I asked him about the rate of the chocolate which he wanted to purchase i.e. Rs 10, 20, 40 etc, he told me to give one chocolate of every rate. Realizing that he wasn’t in his senses due to alcohol consumption, I kept a very safe distance from him. He started asking me about 2 people who were standing just outside the medical store. They were my customers. So, I ignored him. He kept asking me repeatedly about them but I refused to say anything. He suddenly became angry and attacked me with a sickle. Fortunately, I dodged the attack so the blow wasn’t fatal at all as I only got a small bruise on my hand. He attacked for a second time but I dodged it & went after him. He immediately went out of my medical store & hit the glass wall of my store. It didn’t break so he hit the door. When I ran after him, he immediately vanished. I have registered a complaint with the police station.”

Vishnu Tamhane, Police Inspector, Mundhwa Police Station, Pune, said “A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). We are on the hunt for the accused & soon we will nab the accused.”
