After a hiatus of two years, the evening local broadcast of Akashvani Pune Centre is set to make a comeback on April 7, following recent approval from senior authorities at All India Radio (AIR).

The decision to resume the evening broadcast comes as a significant victory for the dedicated listeners of Pune, who have passionately advocated for the revival of their beloved programming.

During the hiatus, the reduction in local program production by AIR had limited opportunities for local artists, intellectuals, and occasional announcers. In response, both listeners and local artists in Pune vehemently protested and consistently voiced their concerns to higher authorities.

Thanks to their unwavering efforts, senior officials have now greenlit the reinstatement of the evening broadcast of Akashvani Pune Centre, much to the delight of the Pune community.

With the revival of the evening broadcast, listeners can once again look forward to enjoying their favorite local programs, including Yuvvani, Hello Aapli Aavad, Nabhonatya Folk Music, Classical Music, and Family Programmes.

Indrajit Bagal, the director of the Pune Centre of Akashvani and Doordarshan, expressed satisfaction with the decision, stating, “A proposal was forwarded to the higher authorities on behalf of Akashvani Pune Center, on April 7.”

This announcement marks the imminent return of Pune’s airwaves, fostering a renewed connection with the community through regionally crafted content.
