Pune News: Sant Nirankari Mission to hold clean up drives at 41 water bodies in Pune

Pune: Sant Nirankari Mission, under the leadership of Sadguru Mata Sudikshaji Maharaj and Nirankari Rajpitaji, is set to launch the ‘Amrit Project’ under the theme of ‘Swachh Jal – Swachh Mind’ on Sunday, February 26, 2023, on the occasion of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The main aim of this project is to plan and implement various water protection activities, including cleaning reservoirs, awareness campaigns, and encouraging common people to participate.

Under the “Amrit Project,’ various ghats on all the rivers like Mula, Mutha, Indrayani, Neera, Bhima, Karha, Ghod nadi, Pavana River, Kukadi River, Meena River, Varu River, as well as Khadakwasla Dam, Nazre Dam, Katraj Lake, Pashan, etc., will be cleaned. This program will be implemented in 41 places.

The project is inspired by the teachings of Baba Hardev Singh, who implemented several social welfare activities during his tenure, including cleanliness and tree plantation campaigns. This year’s Amrit Project will see more than 1.5 lakh volunteers from the Nirankari Mission cleaning beaches, rivers, lakes, ponds, wells, springs, water tanks, drains, and watercourses in over 1100 places in 730 cities across 27 states and Union Territories in India.

More than 5000 Nirankari devotees and local Nirankari Sevadal will participate in the project, focusing on the disposal of plastic waste, useless materials, unnecessary bushes, spoiled food, and other debris. Volunteers will also remove algae from artificial reservoirs and plant trees and shrubs to beautify the areas used for walking and walking in the roads and surrounding areas to make the environment green and beautiful.

To create awareness among the public about water conservation, the project will include slogans, banners, hoardings, street plays, and social media awareness campaigns to spread the message of ‘water conservation’ and good water practices. Additionally, the project will help create awareness about water-borne diseases and the importance of water conservation.

Secretary of Sant Nirankari Mission Joginder Sukhija, while giving detailed information about this project, said that this project will be implemented in more than 1100 places in 730 cities of 27 states and Union Territories across India under Sant Nirankari Mission. About 1.5 lakh volunteers will clean beaches, rivers, lakes, ponds, wells, springs, water tanks, drains, watercourses, etc., to make them clean. Almost all the mission branches will participate in this, and if necessary, several branches will join together in the designated area to carry out the activity collectively.
