This year, the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi will halt at Bopodi, located at the entry point of Pune city, for a duration of 25 minutes. This extended stop will give devotees from Khadki, Aundh, Bopodi, Baner, and Range Hills enough time to witness the revered procession. The decision was taken by the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan after a special request was made by former Deputy Mayor Sunita Wadekar.

Devotees’ Long-Pending Request Fulfilled
Every year, the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi enters Pune as part of its spiritual journey. However, the brief halt at Bopodi in previous years didn’t allow many devotees sufficient time for darshan, leading to disappointment. Recognizing this concern, Sunita Wadekar contacted Jalindar Maharaj More, the President of the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan, and explained the difficulties faced by the devotees. Responding positively, More Maharaj approved the extension of the halt to 25 minutes.

A Welcome Relief for Suburban Devotees
Bopodi is a key location in Pune’s suburban belt and witnesses the arrival of thousands of devotees each year to catch a glimpse of the palkhi. In the past, the limited halt time prevented many from experiencing the moment. With the extended duration, devotees from Khadki, Aundh, Baner, Range Hills, and Bopodi will now be able to witness the palkhi peacefully, bringing great joy and satisfaction to the local community.
