Pune Municipal Corporation has approved the proposal for privatization of the slaughterhouse in Kondhwa. But the expansion of the slaughterhouse will harm the cultural glory of Pune. There is a law banning cow slaughter, but the law is being flouted in the slaughterhouse. This causes harm to health and environment. A large amount of water will be wasted. Therefore, save the national livestock by canceling the privatization of slaughterhouse in Kondhwa, Acharya Virag Sagar Surishwar Maharaj said.

As per further information shared by Pravin Chorbele, Former Corporator, o fficials of various organizations were present in the Pune Municipal Corporation to declare the privatization of Kondhwa Slaughterhouse illegal & give a statement regarding the same Pune Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Vikas Dhakane, Health Department Chief Dr Bhagwan Pawar accepted this request.

On this occasion, Preeti Sudha, Acharya Virag Sagar Surishwar Maharaj, Prerna Ji, Pragya Ji, Ex Corporator Praveen Chorbele, Ramesh Oswal, VHP West Maharashtra Treasurer Mahendra Devi, Vegetarian Culture Promoter Dr Kalyan Gangwal, All India Govansh Raksha Sangh President Milind Ekbote, Adv Kapil Rathod, Achal Jain, Sanjay Chordia, Editor of Jain Jagruti, Chandrasekhar Lunkad, Satish Surana, Vilas Rathod, Arvind Kataria, Badrinath Parthasarathy, Chanchala Kothari, and Jain Samaj leaders and women, and members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Warkari Sampradaya and other organizations were present.

Dr Kalyan Gangwal said on this occasion that the proposal that there will be no new slaughterhouses in America has been approved. All slaughterhouses in Chicago are closing. Reports by doctors and scientists have revealed that after animals are slaughtered, ‘Einstein pain waves’ are released from their bodies and cause environmental damage. This makes a man violent. Millions of liters of water will be used for the slaughter house. There is already a shortage of water. Two thousand liters of water is required to produce one kilogram of meat. By opposing the privatization of these slaughterhouses, saving water, protecting the environment and protecting peace is being done.

Milind Ekbote said, profiteering is being done by approving the privatization of slaughterhouses. This is a violation of the Municipal Corporation Rules, 1989. The number of animals in western Maharashtra is less than before. The slaughterhouse is going to make him suffer even more. This will affect products like milk.

Former corporator Praveen Chorbele said that according to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 and the Maharashtra Animal Protection Act 1976, the Municipal Corporation should work considering the convenience and behavior of the citizens. Although this resolution was tabled in 2008, this resolution has been brought again and Pune city should not be made a city of learning and culture and not a slaughterhouse city. As this slaughterhouse will be externally funded, thousands of animals will be slaughtered here. So, don’t spoil Pune’s culture and environment. Promotion of beef sale, business and export is not a matter under municipal jurisdiction and slaughterhouse privatization is illegal.

On this occasion slogans like ‘Abolish the slaughterhouse in Kondhwa, save cows, adopt non-violence’ were given.
