On January 17 (Wednesday) morning, in two separate incidents, the roads became slippery in the Kasba Peth and Karve road areas. As per information, in one incident, the road at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Bridge in Kasba Peth became slippery & in another incident, the road near Mrutyunjay Mandir, Karve Road, became slippery due to milk and oil spillage. No casualties have been reported in the incident. 

Speaking to Pune Pulse regarding the Kasba Peth incident, Kamlesh Chaudhari, PMC Fire Officer said, “At around 4:25 am on Wednesday, fuel started leaking from pick-up vehicles which go to the market to collect vegetables etc. Due to this, the road at Shivaji Bridge became slippery, causing 2 to 3 vehicles to slip. 1 person has been lightly injured in this. When we got the call from some locals, we immediately rushed to the spot & cleaned the entire road. Now, the traffic flow has become seamless like before.”

In the Kasba Peth incident, 6 fire department officials executed a road cleaning operation namely: Fire Officer Kamlesh Chaudhari, driver Kiran Shinde,         Fireman – Harish Bundile, Dnyaneshwar Gaikwad, Helpers – Aatish Naiknavare, Sunny Lokhande, Gajanan Pathrudkar, PMC Fire Officer, sharing some information about the Karve Road incident, stated that milk had spilled on a road near Mrutyunjay Mandir, causing some vehicles to slip. However, no one is injured. The entire road has been cleaned & smooth traffic flow has been restored.

The fire department has urged motorists to drive safely on the roads.
