More than 52,000 commuters have used the new Pune Metro route, which runs from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi, since Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it on March 6. The route has received positive feedback.

The PM’s hectic schedule caused the inauguration to be postponed by several months. It was originally scheduled for February 19, but the postponement of the PM’s visit caused a delay. At last, on March 6, he was able to virtually inaugurate it from Kolkata in a matter of seconds. Additionally, he conducted the video conference groundbreaking for the expanded metro line that will connect Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi.

A Pune Metro official said that commuters responded favourably to them on March 6 and 7. 52,763 riderships were registered during these two days. They brought in ₹4.33 lakh in revenue. After a week, they will be able to determine the precise ridership per day. This section now links Ramwadi to the PCMC area and Kothrud to Ramwadi. The management of the Metro anticipates an increase in ridership in the upcoming weeks.

According to a Metro commuter, he works in an office near Shaniwar Peth. He used to take buses, but these days it’s simple to take a metro train from PMC to Ramwadi and get there in comfort.

There are 15 stations along the 15 km Vanaz to Ramwadi route. Bund Garden, Yerawada, Kalyani Nagar, and Ramwadi are the stations along the Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi stretch. Yerawada station will open later, though, as the work on its entry and exit points is still ongoing on this route.

The seven-kilometer section from PCMC to Phugewadi and the five-kilometer section from Vanaz to Garware College were officially opened by the PM earlier on March 6, 2022. Subsequently, on August 1, 2023, he officially opened the Pune Metro sections that run from Garware College to Ruby Hall Clinic (4.75 km) and from Phugewadi to Civil Court (6.91 km).
