Pune: Palkhi Vehicles Under Scrutiny: RTO Launches Special Inspection Drive For Warkaris
Pune: Ahead of the annual Palkhi procession of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, the Maharashtra State Transport Department and Regional Transport Office (RTO) have initiated a special inspection campaign for vehicles carrying Warkaris.
The drive is being conducted under the guidance of Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao and Regional Transport Officer Ajit Shinde, to ensure the safety and roadworthiness of vehicles used during the religious yatra.
The campaign, which started on June 9 and will continue till June 14, 2025, includes a thorough check of each vehicle, especially focusing on technical safety, documentation, and fitness. Dedicated arrangements have been made at Alandi and Dehu Road RTO offices, where inspection camps will be conducted. Two senior officers have been appointed to oversee the process.
The RTO has appealed to Warkaris to bring their vehicles for inspection at the designated centers between 10:30 am and 6:00 pm. A notice has been issued urging timely checks to ensure safe travel during the yatra. Officials will also provide necessary guidance to rectify any vehicle issues.
