Residents of Omega Paradise & other societies like Palash, Maxima near euro school in Wakad are troubled due to vehicles remaining parked on the road leading to traffic & safety issues.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Anand Shrimali, Resident of Omega Paradise, Wakad said, “Daily, at day time, night time etc, commercial & all other types of vehicles such as trucks, buses etc are parked on the side of the road nearby our society. Hence, for vehicles of commercial establishments, they should make proper parking arrangements on their own rather than simply parking & leaving the vehicle on the side of the road. Due to such careless acts, there are constraints for traffic movement as the road is cut down by almost half. Sometimes, vehicles are parked on the footpath as well, making it difficult for pedestrians to walk.”

Archana Singh, a resident of Omega Paradise, Wakad said, “This has been happening for a long time. Trucks, school buses, commercial buses, office buses and more remain parked on the roadside. Due to this, half of the road space is gone. The traffic has to be adjusted & move from the remaining part of the road. Also, our kids drive bicycles on the road which becomes very unsafe as vehicles keep coming at very fast speeds & space constraints are there due to the roadside vehicular parking. Hence, several times, the road becomes an accident spot.”

Bhavesh Utmani, a resident of Omega Paradise, Wakad said, “This roadside vehicular parking happens from the road outside our society all the way till Datta Mandir Road. Road reduction for traffic, footpath usage for pedestrians etc issues are there. However, several illicit activities inside the vehicles, parked at the side of the road, happen at night time such as alcohol consumption, loud noises, smoking and more. Hence, there is also an issue of safety for everyone.”

Navnath Khedkar, Wakad Traffic Police Official said, “We will send a patrolling van today at night to the location & take relevant action against the perpetrators.”
