Pune, March 24, 2026: In a bid to address rising demand and improve service efficiency, the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) in Mundhwa will be shifted to Baner-Pashan Link Road starting March 30, 2026, officials said.

The new facility will function from the Mont Claire building in Pashan, located closer to the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Pune. Authorities believe the relocation will help streamline operations and enhance coordination between the two offices.

The existing PSK on Ghorpadi–Mundhwa Road has been witnessing a steady increase in applicants, particularly from fast-growing localities such as Hadapsar, Kharadi, Vimannagar, Koregaon Park and Kalyaninagar. The surge driven largely by students, IT professionals and business travellers has led to overcrowding and longer waiting times.

Officials stated that the new centre is expected to offer improved infrastructure, better crowd management and faster processing of applications.

Applicants who have appointments scheduled on or after March 30 at the Mundhwa centre will need to report to the new Baner-Pashan facility at their allotted time. Authorities have urged applicants to verify the updated address on the official Passport Seva portal before visiting.

The move is part of a broader effort to enhance passport service delivery in Pune and nearby districts. Recently, the RPO also organised a training programme for police personnel at the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate to improve the efficiency and accuracy of verification procedures.

However, the decision has sparked concern among residents of eastern Pune, who fear increased travel time to the new location. Citizens from areas such as Hadapsar, Kharadi, Yerawada, Kondhwa and Wagholi said commuting to Baner-Pashan could take significantly longer, especially during peak hours.

Some residents have suggested setting up multiple centres across different parts of the city to ensure easier access. They argue that as Pune continues to expand, a more decentralised approach to public services would better serve its growing population.
