Pune : PhD Entrance Exam-PET exam will take place after SET examination 

The State Eligibility Test (SET) examination for the post of assistant professor will be held on April 7. After that, in the second week of April, the Preliminary Eligibility Test or ‘PET’ will be conducted for the PhD course.

As per the directions given by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Savitribai Phule Pune University has prepared a new regulation for admission to PhD courses. However, this regulation is being opposed by the professors of the colleges affiliated to the university.

In the future, only the professors of the college having PhD research centers and teaching postgraduate courses will be able to guide the students for research. This will reduce the number of PhD guides.
