Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Arrests Jaipur Man In Matrimonial Fraud And Sexual Assault Case
Pune, October 28, 2025: The Wakad Police have arrested Alok Ajaykumar Purohit, a 43-year-old resident of Jaipur for allegedly cheating and sexually assaulting a woman under the pretext of marriage after meeting her on a matrimonial app.
The case, registered on September 27, 2025, at the Wakad Police Station (Crime No. 560/2025), includes charges under Sections 64, 69, 115(2), 117(2), and 341 of the Indian Justice Code, 2013, along with Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
According to the police, Purohit posed as an unmarried man on various matrimonial platforms, including Jeevansaathi.com, Shaadi.com, and IITIMShaadi.com. He befriended a divorced woman, gained her trust with false promises of marriage, and later allegedly forced physical relations with her against her will at her Pune residence.
Following the incident, the accused reportedly blackmailed the victim using her private photos and videos, threatening to upload them online if she reported the matter. A detailed investigation led to his arrest on October 7, 2025, and police later discovered that he was already married but continued deceiving women through fake profiles.
Investigators suspect Purohit may have targeted several women using similar tactics across different matrimonial platforms. The probe continues to identify additional victims and collect further evidence.
The investigation is being carried out under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Vanita Dhumal of Sant Tukaram Nagar Police Station, guided by Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Chaube, Additional Commissioner Shashikant Mahavarkar, and Deputy Commissioner Vishal Gaikwad of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police (Circle 2).
