Pune, December19, 2025: In a significant step towards accountability and citizen relief, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has called upon residents to formally apply for compensation in cases where road potholes have led to serious injuries or loss of life within the city limits.

The move follows a directive issued by the Hon’ble High Court on October 13, 2025, in Public Interest Litigation (PIL) No. 71 of 2013. As per the order, individuals injured in accidents caused by potholes on roads developed by the PMC, or the legal heirs of those who have died in such incidents, are eligible to seek remedial action through an official application.

Affected citizens are required to submit their applications along with all relevant documents and evidence to the PMC Road Department, First Floor, Shivajinagar, Pune – 411005. For assistance and queries, the department can be contacted at 020-25501084 or via email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

The PMC clarified that each application will be scrutinised by a specially constituted committee, formed in compliance with the High Court’s directions, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.

Urging citizens to come forward, the civic body emphasised that this mechanism has been put in place to ensure transparency, accountability, and justice for those affected by unsafe road conditions.
