In light of previous delays and stalled progress by contractors, authorities have taken proactive steps to initiate early cleaning of drains. Despite the commencement of work before the monsoon, progress has been sluggish, prompting concerns about preparedness for the impending rainy season. The cleaning of monsoon drains is currently underway at a slow pace, with the administration assuring an acceleration in the pace of work.

Efforts are being made to remove obstacles that may hinder the flow of water, such as garbage and overgrown grass in the drains, to expedite the cleaning process before the onset of monsoon. Special attention is also being given to cleaning the monsoon channels to ensure smooth water flow during heavy rains.

To oversee the completion of these crucial tasks, all 15 zonal offices of the Municipal Corporation and five Circle Deputy Commissioners have been tasked with supervision. It has been mandated that all cleaning works be finalized by May 10, emphasizing the urgency of the situation and the need for prompt action.

As the city braces itself for the monsoon season, residents and authorities alike are hopeful that these proactive measures will mitigate potential flooding and ensure the smooth functioning of drainage systems.
