Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is planning to increase the width of the under-construction flyover on Katraj-Kondhwa Road by 150 meters.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Vikas Dhakane, Additional Municipal Commissioner, PMC, stated that the PMC is considering the extension of Katraj-Kondhwa flyover by 150 meters. However, currently, it is under technical feasibility check phase. Once it is done, PMC will execute the further procedures regarding the extension.

As per further information, the PMC has also sought for a fund of around Rs 200 crores from the state government to compensate the landowners if & when the land acquisition for the extension of flyover width is done. The PMC will also hold discussion with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) regarding the extension of the flyover. This would help speed up the process as the administration would no longer have to wait for land to be acquired.

The work of the flyover is expected to be complete by March 2024. Regular Katraj and Kondhwa road users have been asking the administration to widen this vital road section to ease the frequent traffic jams.
