Pune: The Pimpri-Chinchwad police have tightened their belts to ensure a smooth Ganeshotsav as there will be more than three thousand police personnel deployed in the city.
As per information, more than one and a half thousand Ganeshotsav Mandals have been given permission within the limits of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. During the Ganeshotsav period, there is a huge crowd in the city. Hence, a huge responsibility of maintaining law and order falls on the police. In the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad, arrangements have been made from outside for Ganeshotsav.
One Additional Commissioner of Police, five Deputy Commissioners, eight Assistant Commissioners, 50 Police Inspectors, 145 Assistant Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors, one thousand 840 enforcers are available for Ganeshotsav. Four police inspectors, 20 assistant inspectors and sub-inspectors, 400 police personnel, 600 home guards, two companies of SRPF, and two teams of bomb detection and disposal dogs have been added to the Pimpri Chinchwad city police.
During the Ganeshotsav period, permission has been given to set up loudspeakers till midnight for five days. This will be allowed from September 23 to September 28. On the seventh day, immersion takes place in many areas. However, no permission has been given to use sound recorders on that day. Therefore, the police have appealed to every Ganesh Mandal to switch off the sound system at 10 p.m.
