Pune, May 14, 2026: A review meeting of the Pune City Improvement Committee was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram at the Pune Municipal Corporation headquarters.
The meeting was conducted in continuation of an earlier discussion held at the District Collector’s office regarding eight key initiatives aimed at creating an environmentally friendly, citizen-centric, and efficient urban transport system in Pune.

During the meeting, officials reviewed the implementation status of the eight road and transport-related initiatives, the current progress of the Katraj-Kondhwa Road project, pre-monsoon preparedness measures, and planning for the upcoming Pune Grand Cycle Tour 2026.
Detailed presentations were made by various departments on subjects including Low Emission Zones (LEZ), pedestrian-first infrastructure, Non-Motorised Transport (NMT) facilities around metro stations, parking management, strengthening of cycle tracks, improvement of public transport systems, and school transport safety.
The meeting also reviewed monsoon preparedness work across the city, including drain cleaning, stormwater drainage management, road repair works, and the readiness of emergency response systems.

PMC officials informed that the civic administration is moving ahead with plans to introduce a ‘Low Emission Zone (LEZ)’ in the Shivajinagar area ahead of World Environment Day on June 5. The initiative aims to promote the use of low-emission BS-VI and electric vehicles, improve traffic management, and reduce air pollution in the city.
The civic body is also focusing on effective implementation of the parking policy, strengthening the Urban Mobility Cell, improving public transport infrastructure, and promoting environmentally friendly travel habits through initiatives such as the Pune Grand Cycle Tour 2026.
Officials stated that these measures are expected to play an important role in making Pune cleaner, safer, and more commuter-friendly.
The meeting was attended by District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Special) Omprakash Divte, City Engineer Pawaskar, chief engineers from the road, electrical and garden departments, deputy commissioners, land acquisition officials, and officers and staff from various civic departments.
Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram instructed all concerned departments to ensure timely implementation of projects through better coordination and to provide safe, accessible, and sustainable urban facilities to citizens.
