Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is spending Rs 300 crores on improving the condition of roads in the city. However, the question that has risen is will the potholes on the roads be covered now ?
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sahebrao Dandge, Superintendent Engineer, PMC Road Department said, “The road repair work is divided into 6 sections. There are 9 kilometers of concrete roads and 91 kilometers of asphalt roads. This work will be done only where repairs are needed without asphalting a road continuously. In the first section, the road repair work of 8.3 km will be done through concretization of which 15% work is already done. Rest is in progress. In the 2nd section, the road repair work of 20 km will be done of which 85% work is already done. Rest is in progress. In the 3rd section, the road repair work of 27 km will be done of which 90% work is already done. Rest is in progress. In the 4th & 5th sections, the road repair work began some days ago and is in progress. In the 6th section, the road repair work will be done by building a culvert of which 50% work is already done. Rest is in progress.”
As per the information, about 100 kilometers of roads in the city will be improved. In order to eliminate the bad condition of the roads in the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation had assigned the task of reporting it to a private organization. The Municipal Corporation has planned to fix roads of about 100 km distance in different parts of the city.
After the repair work, any kind of excavation will be strictly prohibited on this road. The roads of the city are being inspected by an independent team and work will be started immediately on the roads where there are potholes.
The PMC, apart from Sundays, is ready for 24 hours to inspect the road conditions in the city. Citizens can register their complaints about road repair work on this mobile number +91 90492 71003.
