The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to distribute the property tax bills from May 15. The deadline for taxpayers to receive the 10% discount for on-time payment has also been extended till July 15, 2023. The distribution of property tax bills was delayed because the PMC was awaiting the government notification on the 40% tax rebate for self-occupied houses, which was issued last week.

Now, a request has been submitted to the PMC’s standing committee to extend the 10% discount deadline and hence the distribution of bills will start from May 15. PMC will lose out on approximate revenue of Rs 400 crores when the rebate is reinstated. The properties which registered after 2019 that did not receive the 40% reduction will be evaluated by PMC and will be eligible for the discount starting from April 1, 2023.
