Pune: PMRDA Demolishes Illegal Six-Storey Building In Marunji Amid Ongoing Crackdown
Pimpri, June 5 – Continuing its aggressive action against unauthorized constructions and hoardings, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) on Thursday demolished a six-storey illegal building located at Survey No. 45/1/2 in Marunji.
In recent days, PMRDA has intensified its efforts to curb illegal structures within its jurisdiction. Following multiple complaints regarding ongoing unauthorized construction activities, PMRDA initiated direct action. As part of this drive, the unauthorized six-floor building in Marunji was brought down on Thursday.
According to a survey conducted by PMRDA, 967 unauthorized hoardings have been identified across its limits. So far, 122 illegal hoardings have been removed by the Encroachment and Demolition Department’s task force. These hoardings were deemed hazardous due to their interference with traffic and the potential threat they posed to public safety, especially in areas like Haveli, Bhor, Mulshi, Purandar, and Daund.
The crackdown is being carried out under the instructions of Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase. The demolition operation in Marunji was executed under the supervision of Acting Commissioner Deepak Singla, Superintendent of Police and Vigilance Officer Amol Tambe, Deputy Collector Dr. Deepti Suryawanshi-Patil, and Pramod Kudale.
During the operation, local enforcement was deployed with PMRDA Tehsildar Ravindra Ranjane, Sachin Mhaske, and Police Inspector Maheshkumar Saratape overseeing security and coordination on-site.
The PMRDA continues to enforce strict measures against illegal developments to ensure urban safety and adherence to planning regulations.
