Pune, April 29, 2026:

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has moved into action mode to speed up work on Metro Line 3, which will connect Hinjawadi IT hub to Shivajinagar and ease travel for residents.

Additional Metropolitan Commissioner K. Manjulakshmi conducted on-site inspections at key locations on Tuesday to review progress and address technical issues delaying the project.

The Metro Line 3 project, being implemented under a public-private partnership with Tata Group’s Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL), aims to improve connectivity between Man, Hinjawadi, and Shivajinagar.

During the inspection at University Chowk, a major water leakage from a municipal pipeline near the Pashan ramp was noticed. The leakage was affecting metro work, and officials were directed to fix the issue immediately.

At another site, PAR 21, instructions were given to clear space required for constructing a metro staircase, which is expected to help resume pending work in the area. Work on a metro staircase at PAR 15 in Baner was also reviewed.

Officials were told to maintain not only speed but also high-quality standards in construction.

Senior PMRDA officials, engineers, and representatives from PITCMRL were present during the inspection.

K. Manjulakshmi said that removing technical hurdles and completing the project on time is a top priority, adding that efforts are being made to reduce traffic congestion and improve daily commute for Pune residents.
