Pune, October 31, 2025: The Anti-Narcotics Squad-1 of the Pune City Crime Branch destroyed seized narcotic substances worth ₹1,75,06,580 on October 29, 2025. The action was carried out under the supervision of the Narcotics Disposal Committee of the Pune Police Commissionerate, in accordance with notifications issued by the Union Ministry of Finance (Revenue Department), Government of India, and the Maharashtra Home Department (Special).

The committee was chaired by Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh, with members Nikhil Pingale (Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime, Pune City), Rajlaxmi Shivanekar (Deputy Commissioner of Police, Headquarters, Pune City), A.A. Kamthe (Assistant Chemical Analyst), R.R. Patil (Scientific Assistant, Regional Forensic Laboratory, Pune), P.M. Yelpure (Scientific Laboratory Technician, Pune), Ajay Khamkar (Field Officer, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Pune), and officials from the State Excise Department.

A total of 32 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act across five police stations within Pune Police Commissionerate limits were covered in this disposal drive. The destroyed substances included ganja, MD, cocaine, heroin, MDMA, opium plants, methamphetamine, banned tablets, edulis fertilizer, and charas.

The drugs were destroyed in the presence of the committee members at the MEPL plant in Rajangaon, by incineration in an industrial furnace, ensuring adherence to environmental and safety regulations.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj DeshmukhDeputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil PingaleDeputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Rajlaxmi Shivanekar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime-1) Vijay Kumbhar.

The Anti-Narcotics Squads 1 and 2 of the Pune Crime Branch executed the destruction, led by Police Inspector Prashant AnnachatreAssistant Police Inspectors Anil Survase and Nitinkumar Naik, along with PSI Asmita Lad and a team of police constables including Rajendra Palande, Mohan Palwe, Sanjay Raje, Maruti Pardhi, Dattaram Jadhav, Nitin Jadhav, Nagesh Rakh, Dayanand Telange, Sandip Shirke, Suhas Dongre, Vinayak Salve, Sarjerao Sargar, Rehana Shaikh, Suryavanshi, Ravi Rokde, Chetan Gaikwad, Kamble, Mandhare, Jagdale, Akshay Shirke, Dinesh Bastivad, Suhas Tambe, and Shelar.

According to police officials, the procedure followed all legal and environmental protocols to ensure safe and complete disposal of the seized contraband.
