Pune Police forms Morning Walk Squad for safety of citizens

Pune: Pune city police under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Ritesh Kumar has started ‘Morning Walk Squad’ to build confidence among the morning walkers.

Elaborating the initiative, Pune city police told on Wednesday, March 15, between 6:00 to 8:00 am all senior police officials including joint CP Sandip Karnik, five zonal DCP’s, 28 police inspectors, 47 assistant police inspectors, 222 police amaldar (constables) participated in the morning walk at various tekdis, grounds, public places across the city and communicated with people.

Smartana Patil, deputy commissioner of police (Zone-II) told, “All police officers participated in this initiative on Wednesday morning. This initiative is basically to build confidence among the people while taking morning walks. Because of such initiatives we will get direct information from the public which will be useful in patrolling.”

Sandeep Singh Gill, deputy commissioner of police (Zone-I) said, “This is basically meant for community policing. Under this all police staffers, including senior police officers, participate in morning walk drives at their respective places, so that the residents will feel free and safe while taking morning walks. Already we are doing foot patrolling during the evening.”

There is a rise in the number of chain snatching, mobile snatching incidents during morning walk at various places across the city. Such morning walk initiative and evening foot patrolling will help to build confidence among the people.
