Pune Ryders Wheelchair Basketball team to play exhibition match

The Pune Ryders Wheelchair Basketball Team is set to play an exhibition match on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the SRPF Ground in Wanowrie, Pune. The match is part of the SHEARFORCE 2022-23 event and will feature the Pune Ryders Women’s team.

The team, led by Captain Louis George, Suvarna Limaye, and Meghna Munot, have been working hard to build a strong team of over 20 players. The team practices on Saturdays and Sundays at PYC Hindu Gymkhana, with assistance from Shireen Limaye, the current Indian captain of the women’s basketball squad.

The Pune Ryders Women’s team has already seen success, with four of the seven players who practiced at Clover Hills representing Maharashtra as part of the Gold medal-winning squad in Mohali in June 2019. Three players also played for the Gujarat Team at the Mohali Nationals.

Louis George, who is also the Indian Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team Head Coach, Indian Wheelchair Handball Team Assistant Coach, Maharashtra Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Coach, and Secretary of the Maharashtra Wheelchair Basketball Association, has been instrumental in building the team.

Suvarna Limaye, the Joint Secretary of the Maharashtra Wheelchair Basketball Association and Secretary of Pune Ryders, and Meghna Munot, the Pune Ryders Assistant Coach, President of Pune Ryders, and Treasurer of the Maharashtra Wheelchair Basketball Association, have also played important roles in the team’s development.

The exhibition match promises to be an exciting event, showcasing the skills and talents of the Pune Ryders Women’s team. The match will start at 8:00 AM on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the SRPF Ground in Wanowrie, Pune.
