Pune Police Reveal Motive Behind IIT Engineer Killing His 3-Year-Old Son
Pune: The Pune Police have revealed that Madhav Teketi, an IIT Bangalore graduate and engineer at a multinational company, killed his three-year-old son due to suspicions over his wife’s character. Frequent arguments between the couple also played a role in the tragic incident, police said.
Teketi, who lived in Chandannagar with his wife Swaroopa Teketi, also an engineer, and their son Himmat, was arrested following an extensive investigation.
The case came to light on Thursday when Swaroopa filed a complaint at the Chandannagar Police Station, reporting that her son had gone missing around 12:30 pm while he was with Madhav.
A case was registered under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and police launched a probe. During the investigation, CCTV footage showed that Madhav had left their residential complex with Himmat but returned alone, raising suspicion.
Further inquiries revealed that Madhav had purchased a knife and a blade from a local shop before the incident. According to Sima Dhakane, senior police inspector at Chandannagar Police Station, the accused was under the influence of alcohol when first questioned and attempted to mislead investigators.
“When police questioned the accused, he was under the influence of alcohol and was misleading the police,” Dhakane said.
However, following technical analysis and sustained interrogation, Madhav confessed to the crime. Based on his confession, he has been booked under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings will follow.
