To curb harassment during Ganeshotsav, Pune Police has adopted a bold strategy. Commissioner of Police, Amitesh Kumar, announced that pictures of offenders will be displayed on hoardings across the city. This move aims to deter potential harassers and ensure women’s safety.
Those found harassing women or girls will be arrested, and their pictures, names, and addresses will be displayed on hoardings at Bhar Chowk. This public shaming is intended to discourage misbehavior and promote accountability.
The police have also put in place comprehensive security measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable festival experience. These include 18 Police Help Centers operating round-the-clock, Damini teams and women police teams patrolling crowds, plainclothes police teams monitoring central areas, and Rapid Action Teams deployed at strategic locations.
By publicly exposing harassers, Pune Police sends a strong message: harassment will not be tolerated. Citizens are urged to report incidents and cooperate with authorities to maintain peaceful festivities.
