The Maharashtra State Excise Department in Pune has enforced stringent measures against pubs flouting liquor regulations. Acting on directives from the Hon’ble Collector of Pune, Cosie at Hotel Trillion Security Private Limited and Blak at Panchshil Infrastructure (Oak Wood) Marriott Suites have been shut down immediately. This crackdown follows allegations that minors involved in a Porsche car accident were supplied with alcohol from these establishments.

This action is part of a wider Special Inspection Campaign by the State Excise Department, aimed at ensuring compliance with the Bombay Prohibition Act of 1949 and the Bombay Foreign Liquor Rules of 1953 across all pubs and permit rooms in Pune.

Key focus areas of the inspections include:

  • Prohibition of foreign liquor sales to minors.
  • Ensuring that foreign liquor sales end by 1:30 am.
  • Requiring female waitstaff to possess employment letters from the Excise Department and prohibiting them from serving liquor after 9:30 pm.

These regulations are intended to curb illegal activities and ensure safe, legal alcohol consumption in the city. Establishments found in violation face severe penalties, including suspension or cancellation of their liquor licenses, and criminal charges for breaches.

The Commissioner of State Excise, Mumbai, has mandated the Pune Excise Department to take decisive action against any establishments that fail to adhere to these regulations.
