Pune: Protest March In Purandar Over Crime Incidents And Land Purchase Allegations
PUNE: Tensions have escalated in Purandar taluka near Pune amid concerns over rising crime and allegations related to land purchases in the area surrounding the proposed international airport.
A large protest march, titled “Hindu Janakrosh Morcha,” was organised by Sakal Hindu Samaj in Saswad. The demonstration seeks action on multiple issues, including alleged criminal activities in the Bopdev Ghat area and concerns raised over land transactions in villages near the proposed airport site.
One of the key demands of the protest is strict action against groups accused of creating fear in areas such as Bopdev Ghat and Bhivari village. Protesters have also called for the withdrawal of cases filed against local residents, claiming that villagers who acted in self-defence have been wrongly charged.
Another major issue raised by the group relates to land purchases in Purandar taluka. With the proposed international airport project increasing land value in the region, the organisation has alleged large-scale buying of land in several villages, demanding scrutiny and intervention by authorities.
The march began from Shivtirth in Saswad and is scheduled to pass through Bhivari and Bopdev Ghat before concluding at Khadimachine Chowk in Kondhwa.
Given the sensitive nature of the protest and its scale, heavy police deployment has been arranged along the entire route from Saswad to Kondhwa to maintain law and order.
