Pune: To strongly oppose the proposed garbage depot project of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in Punawale, the residents will hold a ‘Ghanta Naad’ protest on December 3, Sunday from 10 am to 11 am opposite Lotus Business School in Punawale.

As per information shared by Dattatray Deshmukh, Chairman, Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation this ‘Ghanta Naad’ protest has been organized to awaken the PCMC regarding the proposed garbage depot project in Punawale and the health hazards it will pose to the nearby residents.

In early November 2023, the Punawale residents held a bike rally to oppose the proposed garbage depot project

The bike rally served as a powerful expression of their opposition to the proposed facility, which, they fear, could cause significant inconvenience to the local community and pose potential health hazards to the more than 1 lakh citizens currently residing in Punawale.

In a united front, society residents and Punawale village residents have come together under the banner of ‘Me Punawalekar’ to voice their objections to the garbage depot’s presence in their vicinity.

Just like the bike rally, all residents of Punawale are appealed to participate in this ‘Ghanta Naad’ (Bell ringing) protest to express strong opposition against the proposed garbage depot project of the PCMC.
