Pune Railway Station Incident: RPF Officer Splashes Water on Sleeping Passengers, Sparks Mixed Reactions

Pune, 1 July 2023: A recent incident at Pune Railway Station has drawn attention, where a Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer resorted to an unconventional method to wake up sleeping passengers on the platform. The incident was captured on a mobile device and quickly went viral over social media platforms, prompting a range of reactions from the netizens.

One commuter, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed empathy for both the RPF officer and the affected passengers, acknowledging the challenges of prolonged delays. However, Pune Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Indu Dubey responded to the incident by expressing disappointment in the officer’s approach. The DRM emphasized the importance of treating passengers with dignity and using a polite and respectful manner while handling such situations. Dubey conveyed regret over the incident and provided reassurance that the staff member involved will undergo refresher training in soft skills before being redeployed in a passenger-intensive area.

The concerned RPF staff has been removed from passenger area duty as a response to the incident, and measures are being taken to address the inconvenience caused to passengers.
