Pune Residents Alarmed as Reckless Car Stunts Take Over Ravet Playground, Demand Stronger Police Action
Videos circulating on social media have sparked concern among residents of Ravet, Pune, after showing cars performing dangerous stunts on a local public playground. Locals say the once-safe recreational space is increasingly being misused by motorists, prompting calls for stricter enforcement from the authorities.
Residents explained that the open ground, frequently used by children and families for leisure activities, has become a hub for high-end vehicle owners, including SUVs like the Mahindra Thar, to engage in drifting and other risky maneuvers. Such behavior not only endangers people nearby but also disrupts the peace of the community.
One concerned resident remarked, “Playgrounds are already limited in our area. If even these are used for dangerous driving, it puts everyone at risk. Authorities must intervene immediately.”
According to locals, complaints have been repeatedly lodged with the police control room, yet the issue persists. Past instances of rash driving at the same playground have led to registered cases at Ravet Police Station, under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. Despite previous enforcement, these reckless acts continue to occur sporadically.
The issue gained wider public attention after recent videos showing cars performing stunts went viral on social media. In response, resident associations have installed banners at the playground, warning that stunt driving and drifting are prohibited, with legal action pending against violators.

Police authorities confirmed that the matter came to their attention following the online circulation of the videos. A senior officer from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police stated that patrolling around the area has been intensified to prevent further misuse of the ground.
Still, residents insist that occasional patrolling is insufficient. They are urging authorities to implement continuous monitoring and enforce stricter penalties to ensure the safety of the playground and protect the community from dangerous driving practices.
