Residents of NIBM & Mohammadwadi are in distress due to the road condition from Royal Heritage Mall to Dorabjee Paradise as gravel and concrete mixture lies on the road which has led to become uneven surface on the road making it difficult for the motorists to drive over it.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Nelma Pinheiro, Resident of Dorabjee Paradise, Mohammadwadi, said “We are not happy with the road condition. Every time, they do a temporary job. So much dust is there around the area. Gravel is lying on the road, which is again very problematic to commute. Frequent accidents & mishaps take place due to such road conditions. When you come up the road, there is a nursery. As no barriers are there, mud keeps coming on the road which is causing more trouble. Hence, if barriers are constructed to prevent the mud, it will be very helpful. Gravel is a big issue as trucks, mixers etc keep moving on this road. So, hopefully, the PMC will take up this issue soon. If they level the hill, that would be good.”

A resident of Sangria Society, Mohammadwadi, requesting anonymity, said “There are a lot of road issues here due to the road conditions like gravel lying on the road etc. Heavy vehicles keep plying on the road. A lot of traffic flow is there on the road. So, even if any small issue happens, mishaps take place. For two-wheelers, this is a very dangerous road. My driver had fallen some weeks ago, while driving on that road, due to the road condition. He developed fractures. I have been witnessing this for 1.5 years. The road isn’t getting repaired at all. PMC has been informed about this so many times, but no action is taken.”

Parveen Tambe, Founder Member, NIBM Undri Residents’ Forum, said “The gravel gets cleared with the help of a crane, but tarring isn’t done on the road. I have informed the PMC about this. I visited that road recently. Tarring must be done on the road. The road is used for commuting by several citizens of NIBM, Mohammadwadi, Kondhwa etc. So, road repairs must happen here soon.”

Gautam Gavand, PMC Road Department official, said “Gravel etc tends to fall on that road mainly due to heavy vehicle movement, which we clear every time. We are also trying to reduce the slope. Also, road works like road widening at Cloud 9, slope reduction work going on near Clover Hills and more will significantly reduce the load of vehicles on that road. For now, to clean the gravel, we will take relevant action.”
