The Maharashtra Government is set to catalyze economic growth in Pune City with an initiative to secure agreements with 72 entities, amounting to a total amount of Rs 16,000 crore over the next two years. The concerned effort is projected to generate job opportunities for approximately 30,000 individuals.

S.G. Rajput, the Joint director of Industries, affirmed the government’s commitment to this transformative initiative. He underscored the significance of the district investors summits held across the Pune City, fostering dialogue and collaboration with industrialists from districts like Sangli, Satara, Solapur and Kolhapur. The recent summit of Pune District, organized by the Mahratta Chamber Of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) witnessed considerable activity.

During the summit, 14 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were unveiled, showcasing investments across various sectors. Key commitments included Rs 126 crore of Poona Potash Pvt Ltd, Rs 250 crore by Nzuri Knowledge Park, Rs 150 crore by Atlas Copco, Rs 135 crore by GVS Air Services and Rs 670 crores by Pune Business Spaces. These collaborations are poised to promote fresh momentum into the economy.

The government’s drive to attract investment builds upon the foundation laid by the Magnetic Maharashtra investment conference in 2018. Another round of initiatives is under consideration post the general elections, tentatively scheduled for June-July. Following this, district level investment summits have been instrumental in increasing engagement with Industries at the root level.

Pune District boasts a significant presence of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with approximately 4.5 lakh registered units, of which one lakh operate in manufacturing and 3.5 lakh Carter to the service sector.
