The Pune Rural Police have taken proactive measures by forming a dedicated cell of volunteers to effectively manage the traffic and crowds in Lonavala City and its rural areas during the monsoon season. With a significant influx of tourists visiting Lonavala during this time, the rural police have reached out to students, social organizations, and the public to join the volunteer team.

The Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Satyasai Kartik, highlighted the need for such a volunteer cell, stating, “Due to the heavy influx of tourists during the monsoon, Lonavala City and its surrounding areas experience a surge in crowds on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. To ensure smooth traffic movement and crowd management, we are creating the ‘Lonavala Police Volunteers Cell.’ NSS cadets, college students, NGOs, private organizations, and others can contribute by filling out their details in the provided Google form link. I urge everyone to be a part of this special unit.”

Lonavala and its neighboring areas attract thousands of tourists during holidays, as they visit with their friends and families. However, the large crowds often lead to extensive traffic congestion, posing challenges for the police in maintaining smooth traffic flow.
