Pune News : Damini Marshal Unit Strengthens with 41 Squads to Combat Rising Crimes Against Women

In response to the escalating incidents of crimes against women in Pune city, the Damini Marshal Unit has substantially augmented its strength, expanding from 14 squads to a robust total of 41 squads.

Anita More, Senior Police Inspector of the Bharosa Cell & Damini Marshal Unit, shared with Pune Pulse, “To cover the entire city effectively, we have increased the number of squads from 14 to 41. Each squad consists of 2 Damini officers. The alarming surge in the crime rate against women in Pune necessitated this expansion. We now have a total of 82 Damini officers dedicated to safeguarding the women of Pune round the clock.”

Since its establishment in 2015, the Damini Marshal Squads have remained steadfast in their commitment to protecting the women of Pune City at all times. The introduction of these squads has garnered positive feedback from numerous women across the city.

Aditi Vange, a resident of Sahakar Nagar, Pune, expressed her sentiments, stating, “As a female citizen of Pune, the Damini Marshal helpline numbers provide women with a sense of safety. It makes me feel secure in the city. I firmly believe that this proactive measure toward our safety will prove to be effective now and in the long run.”

Pratiksha Jadhav, residing on Saswad Road, Pune, welcomed the decision by Pune Police, saying, “Women are making progress in every sphere. Women step out of their homes for work, business, and other activities. We appreciate this initiative taken by the Pune Police for our safety. It assures many women and girls, including myself, that we always have support behind us.”

Vaidehi Khaladkar, a resident of Sahakar Nagar, Pune, expressed her approval, stating, “I believe it is a commendable decision. These officers are deployed across different areas of the city, ensuring prompt assistance. Thankfully, I have never been involved in any adverse situation. However, God forbid, if such circumstances arise, I sincerely hope that the necessary help will be readily available.”

Mrunmayee Dudhale, residing on Sinhagad Road, Pune, remarked, “The Damini Marshal Squads’ initiative is highly beneficial for our safety. I hope the Damini Marshal officers are always present to ensure the security of women. It is crucial that the implementation proceeds positively. If all the helpline numbers are directly linked with GPS tracking, it would be immensely helpful, as the location of a distressed woman can be swiftly determined.”

Manjiri Deshpande, a resident of Kothrud, Pune, expressed her satisfaction, saying, “I feel reassured and secure with the introduction of helpline numbers in our city. It is a commendable initiative for women’s safety round the clock. However, besides social media and other platforms, this information should also be disseminated through alternate channels like SMS to ensure that all women are promptly informed.”

Priyanka Kulkarni, residing in Vadgaon Budruk, Pune, shared her thoughts, “As a female citizen of Pune, I appreciate the Pune police’s tireless efforts to uphold law and order, prevent and detect crimes, and protect the lives of all citizens in challenging situations. With the launch of integrated 24×7 helpline numbers for women in the city, I believe women’s security will be ensured even more effectively.”
