Villagers from Ambegaon, Maval, Saswad, Indapur, Junnar, Bhor, and Vehle have raised alarm over mysterious bright lights spotted in the night sky. The sightings, particularly near water bodies like dams, ponds, and rivers, have prompted numerous calls to the police control room.

Police patrols have investigated these reports but found no evidence of the source. Authorities suspect that unauthorized drone activity may be causing panic among residents who are unsettled by the loud humming sounds and blinking lights.

To tackle the issue, Pune rural police have initiated a tender to procure two anti-drone guns, following state government approval of Rs 50 lakh for the purchase. These guns are designed to disable drones from a distance by disrupting their electronic signals, causing them to descend safely for retrieval and investigation.

A special police team will be trained to operate these guns and will respond to emergency calls in affected areas. Mumbai police are already employing similar technology to combat unauthorized drone usage.

The identity of the drone operators and their motives remain unknown. Villagers continue to express fear as sightings persist, creating an atmosphere of anxiety in the region.

With these measures, the Pune police aim to ensure the safety and peace of mind for local communities while addressing the growing concerns over unauthorized drone activity.
