Pune: Speeding Car Crashes Into Metro Pillar on Paud Road, Driver Injured
Pune, November 6, 2025: Just days after the tragic accident near Bund Garden Metro Station in Koregaon Park that claimed three young lives, another similar incident occurred near a metro station on Paud Road.
A speeding car rammed into a metro pillar, completely shattering the vehicle. Fortunately, the driver survived thanks to the car’s airbags. Quick action by nearby youngsters helped rescue the injured man in time, preventing a greater tragedy.
The accident took place between 11:30 and 11:45 pm on Wednesday in front of the SNDT Metro Station.
According to social activist Rishikesh Balgude, he and his friends were driving towards Swargate when a speeding Honda City overtook them and crashed into a pillar supporting the double-decker metro flyover on Paud Road.
Balgude and his friends immediately stopped their car and rushed to help. They pulled the injured driver out of the wrecked vehicle, contacted his family using his phone, and alerted the police control room and traffic authorities. Preliminary information suggests that the driver lives near the Alankar Police Station area. Police suspect that he may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
The accident occurred near the spot where the metro flyover begins from Paud Road towards Deccan. Police are investigating the matter further.
