Pune: SRA Clears 216 Illegal Huts In Ramwadi, Promises Permanent Houses Within Two Years
Pune | February 25, 2026: A major eviction and clearance operation was carried out by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority on February 25 at Siddharth Nagar, Nagar Road (Ramwadi area), targeting an unauthorized slum settlement. In a coordinated multi-agency action, 216 illegal huts were demolished, and the entire land parcel was fully cleared.
Describing the drive as one of the largest and most systematically planned operations undertaken by the authority, SRA Chief Executive Officer Satishkumar Khadke said the action was carried out peacefully and in an organised manner.
The operation was conducted between 7 am and 2 pm on land bearing Survey Nos. 204, 205, part of 2145 and 2146, located in the Yerwada slum area of Pune. Prior notices had been served to residents, and heavy police deployment was in place to maintain law and order.
The drive was led by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Archana Yadav, along with senior revenue and administrative officials, police personnel, and officers from the encroachment department of the Pune Municipal Corporation. Teams from the electricity department, fire brigade and local police were also present in large numbers.

Encroachments were removed using heavy machinery with inter-departmental coordination. Officials interacted with residents during the operation and explained the legal process. Authorities confirmed that eligible families have been provided alternative accommodation.
According to the SRA, families affected by road widening are being rehabilitated through housing projects in a private builder’s scheme in Kharadi, in coordination with the Pune Municipal Corporation. In addition, based on residents’ demands, permanent houses will be provided within the next two years under the ongoing rehabilitation housing project at Siddharth Nagar itself, CEO Satishkumar Khadke said in an official statement.
With the encroachment fully removed, the cleared land is now available for planned development projects, which are expected to move forward rapidly. The authority also warned that strict action will continue against illegal constructions and unauthorized encroachments across the city in the future.
